Real3D FlipBook vs zinejs

Real3D FlipBook is a commercial flipbook for WordPress, Shopify, Wix, and plain JavaScript, with a large set of viewer modes and paid add-ons. It is the better choice for stores and WordPress sites that want interactive catalogs without code. zinejs is the smaller, cheaper alternative for developers who need a PDF or image flipbook inside their own code.

Facts checked October 2026. zinejs is built by Awecode, which publishes this site. Competitor facts link to their sources, and each page says where the competitor is the better choice.

Real3D is a full product with an editor and add-ons. zinejs is a component, priced and sized like one.

Where Real3D FlipBook is the better choice

Real3D has the widest feature set of the self-hosted flipbooks. Its Page Editor add-on places links, video, and audio on pages, and other add-ons cover WooCommerce, Elementor, WPBakery, and bookshelves. Shopify and Wix stores can use its apps from $9 a month, which no developer library replaces.

It is also actively developed, with several releases in 2026, and its JavaScript edition does not need jQuery. For WordPress sites moving from another plugin, Real3D converts shortcodes from PDF Embedder, DearFlip, and 3D FlipBook.

Where zinejs is the better choice

On CodeCanyon, Real3D costs $99 for a regular license and $299 for an extended one, and the JS edition requires license activation. A zinejs commercial license costs $20 once per site, with no activation step.

zinejs also keeps the reading features in the base package. Real3D Lite has no text search, deep links, or clickable PDF links; those are Pro features. zinejs includes search, outline, thumbnails, deep links, print, and download, and adds keyboard navigation with screen reader announcements.

For a developer, the integration is smaller too: one package, TypeScript types, and an event API, with no three.js to load.

Page weight

Figures are min+gzip, measured from the Real3D Flipbook Lite 5.5 plugin files and from the zinejs 1.0.0 files on jsDelivr. Both use pdf.js for PDFs.

FileReal3D Litezinejs

pdf.js main87.4 KB (3.11)150.8 KB (6.4 legacy build)
pdf.js worker286.5 KB391.3 KB

Without the worker, Real3D loads about 311 KB and zinejs about 197 KB. Real3D ships an older, smaller pdf.js, so most of the gap comes from three.js.

Which to pick

  • Shopify or Wix store: Real3D, through its apps.
  • WordPress catalogs with video, links, or WooCommerce products on pages: Real3D Pro with add-ons.
  • A developer adding a PDF or image flipbook to an app or static site: zinejs.

Real3D is the stronger product for no-code catalogs. For a flipbook component in code, zinejs costs a fraction of the price and skips three.js.
